Garo Cigars is about crafting a smoking experience that expresses their passion and commitment to the age-old sensual art. Each step in the process has been honed down to a science to meet the high standards that define Dr. Garo. Their meticulous attention to detail pushes them into the limelight of the cigar world. While the brand is still blooming, and the cigars might take a little work to find, the reward of a truly balanced smoke with layered flavors and a great draw is worth the hunt.
What’s Inside?
- Wrapper: Ecuadorian HBA
- Binder: Olor Dominican
- Filler: Special Blend
Construction:
The passion for cigars overtook Dr. Garo Bouldoukian in 1995, taking him away from his private chiropractic practice and into the world of boutique cigars. His eye for detail and quality was honed correcting ailments and pains and lead to a perfect pairing for the creation of his own brand: Garo Cigars. Surrounding his hand-picked blend of tobaccos with the light Ecuadorian wrapper creates the layers and sublties that the Garo brand has made itself known for. The Olor Dominican tobacco, one of the native strains of the Dominican, acts as the bridge between the softer wrapper and the bolder tobacco filler.
Draw:
One of the most surprising things about the Garo Limitada was how smooth and easy the draw was. Contrasting the robust spicy aroma of the smoke, the cool draw balanced the experience, letting the more subtle flavors shine through. The layers of of the Ecuadorian were wrapped beautifully, allowing air to bring many of sweeter notes forward to compliment the bold tobacco.
Burn:
As the cigar started I was worried that the breathy draw was going to cause an uneven burn and in turn, creating more work for me correcting, but I was amazingly wrong. The nearly hour smoke never required a correction or a relight. With an even burn adding to the ease of the Garo, I continued to be impressed with its construction and balance.
Aroma:
Pre Lit:
- Black Pepper
- Cocoa
- Leather
- Almonds
Lit:
- Subtle Vanilla
- Macadamia Nuts
- Leather
- Oak
Flavor:
The choices of the delicately Ecuadorian HBA wrapper and Olor Dominican binder were perfect compliments to the brash and bold special blend of tobaccos Garo uses to imagine a Limited run cigar that has both a stiff backbone filled with brights spices, rich wood and nutty notes, while blending sweet cocoa smoke and earth undertones.
Value:
Dr. Garo has given the cigar lovers of the world a cigar that blends top tier quality and great affordability into one beautiful package. So many cigar companies are looking to carve out their own piece of the market with a highly affordable cigar that packs more bang for the smoker’s buck, and the Garo Limitada sets the bar for them to follow.
