The Thorny Rose portfolio boasts five easy drinking vintages that encourage you to sip wine on your own terms. With grapes selected from Washington’s 46ºN latitude – a region similar to that of the world class regions of France to produce their 2010 Chardonnay, we recently took up Thorny Rose on an opportunity to sip and review their blended white wine. Here’s what we discovered about Thorny Rose Chardonnay…

- Variety: 88% Chardonnay, 5% Pinot Gris, 4% Viognier, 3% Gewürztraminer
- Vintage: 2010
- Aging: 41% stainless, 59% oak staves
- Region: Columbia Valley, Washington
- Nose: Apples & citrus with a hint of vanilla
- Flavors: Crisp citrus, apple, oaky vanilla
- Body: Medium-full body with creamy texture
- Alcohol by Volume: 13.5%
- Price: $11.00 ($USD) per bottle (750ml)
PAIR IT UP with – “Yule Love It”
Here’s a great holiday season appetizer, we found on Thorny Rose’s Twitter that pairs perfectly with their Chardonnay ~Ingredients:
- 1/2 Baguette
- 1 Large Log Chèvre Cheese – Chilled
- Olive Oil
- Balsamic Vinegar
- 1 tsp. Cumin
- 1 tsp. Caraway Seeds
- 1 tsp. Nutmeg
- 2 tsp. Fennel Seeds
- 2 tsp. Smoked Paprika
- 1 Pinch of Salt
Directions:
- Pre-heat oven to 350.
- Thinly slice baguette and arrange on baking sheet.
- Drizzle slices with olive oil and balsamic vinegar and toast in over for 15-20 minutes.
- Combine spices and salt on a plate.
- Roll Chèvre in spice mixture, coating it well.
- Slice log thinly using dental floss. Place a round of coated Chèvre on each slice of baguette toast and warm in over for about 2 minutes.
