If you’re not already familiar with the “koozie,” it is an ingenious little invention that  is beloved for both its simplicity and function. You see, a koozie is used to keep your beverage cool and not your hand. There’s nothing worse than a warm beer on a hot day. Typically, beer koozies are crafted from a thin insulative layer of foam covered with an even thinner layer of fabric. While you can find many different varieties of koozies on the market, we trust the good old foldable koozie. It’s easy to carry, keep clean and works like a charm to keep your beer chilled.

At CustomInk you have a few choices to pick from when designing your custom koozies. First they have the traditional foam koozie, which is more bulky than most, but has great insulation. Then you have our favorite – the foldable koozie, that is the most bare bones version. They also offer a bottle koozie with and without a zipper depending on your preference. Finally they offer a neoprene koozie that is designed to hug your beer like a big man in a wet suit. No matter which koozie you pick, the design process is the same, but this is a big choice. Each koozie has a different price point, so depending on your budget choose accordingly.

Design Process:

CustomInk makes the design process extremely simple. We’re not exaggerating… in less than 20 minutes we were able to fully design (front/back) our koozie from start to finish. The online design lab is simple to navigate and makes you feel like a professional graphic designer… minus the student loans.

We were able to import our own own logo and use custom text. We also utilized some of CustomInk’s free graphics to fill in the koozie with an outdoor / mountain scene. Their graphics collection is impressive and covers a vast number of categories like sports, animals, military, school, music, parties and much much more!

Overall, we were extremely impressed with CustomInk’s online design lab. It is simple to use, intuitive and loaded with options for fonts, colors and graphics. Making the customization process truly unique.

Ordering:

Once you’ve designed your koozie and you’re happy with the way it looks CustomInk makes it simple to order your koozie right away with a “buy now” button just under your design. Depending on your needs they offer discounts for bulk orders. Basically the more you order, the more you save. Order 250 and pay $2.37 each, or 400 and pay $2.30 each, and so on.

What really impressed us was the fact that CustomInk took the extra step to make sure we fully inspected every last detail of our own design before they committed to printing our order. After placing our order we received an email from the assurance department with a link to our design where we needed to digitally sign-off with our approval of the final design.

“JD from Satisfaction Assurance here. I’ve been overseeing your order to make sure it turns out great and I wanted to let you know that your proofs are ready! We are just waiting for your approval before we can proceed with production of your order.”

Luckily, in our case, we did not have any issues with our design and were able to sign-off and get the printing process started right away. I can see this being a life saver in the event you’re ordering custom koozies with specific dates or lengthy names or phrases.

Once we signed off on the final design there was nothing left to do but wait for printing and shipping. Typically this process takes 3 weeks, though you can pay extra for expedited shipping if needed.

Quality:

For our purposes, we ordered one of the most simple (and affordable) versions of the koozie. They call it the “foldable can koozie” and we like this design because it’s not bulky and gets the job done. Not to mention it fits perfectly in your back pocket!

Once our koozies arrived we were happy to see that they were exactly what we expected. The print quality was spot on and the design was exactly how we drew it up in the design lab online. If you’re looking for a thicker or more premium koozie they do have higher density options, which come at a price.

One thing that seemed to be different from our design was the exact color of the koozie itself. In the design lab the “Sky Blue” color we choose seemed much duller (see screen shots above). As it turns out the brighter and more bold blue that actually came was just fine and we really like it. While we’re not sure this is the same with every color in the design lab it is something to think about.

Insulation: 

The foldable can koozies we ordered deliver exceptional insulation for their size and weight. We’ve yet to have a beer go warm on us. As with everything, we were very thorough in our testing methods!

Customer Service:

Something that you don’t always expect from an online printing company is a well-manned customer service department. We are happy to report that in CustomInk’s case they do! We had a few questions about the design process and about pricing and they were able to answer all our questions with no problem.

While talking with one customer service rep they explained to us that CustomInk might seem like a huge company that has a fully automated system for printing their custom orders. This is actually not the case. When an order is placed through CustomInk an actual human employee is assigned to your specific design. Knowing that simple fact made us feel much better about the order!

Value:
