As the great craft beer revolutions sweeps over the beer-loving world, options are about as numerous as the movies it takes to portray one book. While many of our best, and worst, decisions have involved a few brews, having a beer or two is always a good choice. So what happens when you can’t find that exact flavor profile you’re looking for? What do you do when you don’t want to commit to the hundreds of dollars brewing a whole vat of beer? You make your own with Craft A Brew.
The wonderfully innovative people over at Craft A Brew have created a fool-proof way to produce an amazing mug of suds to quench your thirst. Every brew kit comes with a set of step by step instructions that are so clear, that it would take effort to screw it up. Needless to say, despite the nearly simple instructions, I reread every line of instruction five times before committing to the direction.
The glorious Chocolate Milk Stout, that somehow came out without me lighting the house on fire, was about as close to a professionally bottled beer than I could hope for. The rich Videri Cocoa Nibs come from the land of chocolate in the Dominican Republic and pack a robust punch that is balanced by the Fruity Ale Yeast and the Lactose that goes into the brewing process. The Dark Malt Extract combine with the Chocolate Malt and Dark Crystal Malt to give the Stout its tell-tale weight and flavor profile. Adding the Cluster Hops gives the stout a bit of a bite to counteract the power of the dark chocolate.

As a beer drinker and beer lover, there is a certain unexplainable pride that comes with brewing something that you would actually enjoy consuming and not just bragging about it to your friends. The brewing of beer dates back far into the annuls of time, and while the process is relatively simple, many of us non-brewers think of it as more complex than a Dennis Miller reference. Craft breweries are creating unique and outrageous beers to set them apart from the competition and in doing so making the idea of home-brewing seem all that more intimidating.
Craft A Brew sets out to destroy our own insecurities, boost our confidence and paint a picture of possibility through car-boys and classic ingredients. Kyle Westfall, the owner and mastermind behind Craft A Brew, set out to make high quality ingredients, top-of-the-line materials and basic beer brewing instructions readily available to the masses. His uncompromising attention to detail is driven by his passion for beer and the craft of brewing.
So where does that leave us? If you are a beer lover, or even looking for a gift for a beer lover that is dear to your heart, the kits that are offered give a novice the courage to step out and try something that might be a little overwhelming. For those who are a little further along in the hobby of brewing, the Craft A Brew Kits are filled with high end parts, materials and ingredients that will either expand the accessory library or provide another source of inspiration.
If the idea of manufacturing your own mug of suds appeals to you in any capacity, Craft A Brew will fuel your fire to brew. On a purely personal note, brewing beer has always had a sort of all or nothing, either both feet in or nothing at all, that has time and time again made me think up elaborate excuses and fall back on a general lack of commitment. The process that Craft A Brew offered was genuinely an easy way of getting my feet wet with the process that had long stopped me in my tracks.
