tallest man9. Time of the Blue by The Tallest Man on Earth

‘Makin’ it rain’ might not be a phrase you’d typically associate with the musical style/lyrics of The Tallest Man on Earth, but it’s just what the decorated Swede references on his latest, albeit amid his more familiar rapid but gentle guitars. Kristian is spending his summer vacation like many other musicians out on the road, traipsing between Europe and North America to share his music everywhere. Likewise, Time of the Blue is a good one for a mellow travel-airplane mode playlist.

rexx8. Handheld GPS by Rexx Life Raj

Nothing but prose when it comes to the latest from Rexx Life Raj, waxing poetic about an issue near and dear to every Millennial’s heart, social media. The handheld gps that he refers to, by no surprise, is a reference to a smartphone. It’s not always a love affair when it comes the relationship between a man and his phone, however, rapping that he has two phones, but social media is so ‘disingenuous.’ Like all great hip hop MCs he raises interesting interesting points while perfecting the art of the rhyme. Play this one next time you’re in the mood for some laid back hip hop.

no future7. No Future by blink-182

There’s much to look forward for Blink fans this week, with a new single just one week before the new album with the new Tom new member Matt Skiba will be available. No Future continues with the band’s grown up vibe, the premise is pretty bleak ‘you don’t know how a thing about it….they don’t care about you (no future)’ while the sound vibe is still all Blink. To follow along in all the lyric’s despair-filled glory, the band put out a lyrics video with the song, dizzying as it may be.

logic wrist

6. Wrist by Pusha T, Logic

Capitalizing on the popularity of songs like Chedda Da Connect’s Flicka Da Wrist, and maybe even Stephen Colbert’s Wriststrong campaign from years ago, Logic draws attention to hip hop’s favorite point on the arm as of late. Lyric’s painting a picture like Leonardo and flying through lyrics at warp speed, making the song a ready to blast at top decibels while driving, or just to annoy your neighbors.

airplane man5. We’re On Fire by Airplane Man

Winner of this week’s most unique/unexpected band name and most unique sound, Airplane Man’s We’re On Fire starts out while heavy pounding and never really lets up, infusing harmonizing lyrics into the sound, and adding ‘whoa oh ohs’ that progress to ‘oh oh ah oh an oh oh.’ If it sounds like there’s a lot going on, there is, but in the best sense of the phrase. Adding to the intrigue, there’s next to nothing on mystery group Airplane Man on the internet, a truly mystifying occurrence in 2016.

no hard feelings

4. No Hard Feelings by The Avett Brothers

When you need to switch gears to low key and an all around peaceful feeling, call on The Avett Brother’s No Hard Feelings. The signature vocals gives the song life, while the guitars summon you to unwind. No Hard Feelings correspond with the band’s release of True Sadness, and if the vibe of the song indicates anything, it touches on a certain feeling of sadness that is inescapable in life, but the more you embrace it the less painful it is.

imad royal

3. Bad 4 U by Imad Royal

When one sees a song titled ‘Bad 4 U’ its natural to assume the contents of the song will revolve around a good-to-be-bad vibe, in the style of Rihanna’s Good Girl Gone Bad, or even Willa Ford’s 2001 power anthem, I Wanna Be Bad. But when it comes to Imad Royal, the Washington D.C. native is a romantic at heart, and he’s simply got it Bad 4 U. The song is light hearted and matches the harmonizing vocals Imad has to offer.

ColonyHouse_YKI_Art-918x6122. You Know It by Colony House

As the hottest month of they year in the Northern Hemisphere approaches, there’s a certain type of song that becomes a neccesity, and its that type of song that you can envision sprinting across hot sand and diving into the closest lake/ocean/pool/body of water on account of the sun beating down on you. Colony House’s latest has all the makings of a summer favorite, with lyrics like ‘and we’ll be back before you knowwwwww it’ followed by a chorus of la la la lalalas.

adele remedy1. Remedy by Adele

Adele shows herself here that not only does she has one of the best voices in all of music, she also has some of the smartest business acumen as well, electing to just now release the massively popular 25 on streaming services seven months after it was first released. Adele recently toward an audience that her songs are pretty miserable, but when it comes to Remedy you’re not yet into the point of crying into an almost empty container of ice cream, but more like you’re just getting it out of the fridge. Though it’s the sixth track on the album, it’s recommended to listen to first before the heavy stuff, Hello, When We Were Young, etc. come on.
