It’s a tough road to walk after a long holiday weekend; even the shorten work week seems to drag now with the summer time fresh weather. Fortunately new music is always around to act as an auditory pain reliever. This week Band Of Horses take a Solemn Oath, Lil Uzi Vert minds his Ps & Qs, and Little Big Town has your go-to jam for when you think it’s gonna be One Of Those Days.

An informed choice is always the best to make; head over to Spotify to choose your favorite new song this week. Also for listening pleasure check out the New Music All Stars Playlist, for the best new songs of 2016.

Garbage-compressed10. Even Though Our Love Is Doomed by Garbage

Garbage has never been a group to sing care-freely about the softer side of life; about as ‘happy’ as they get is I’m Only Happy When It Rains. That tone is present here, with a tinge of *gasp* hope, declaring “even though our love is doomed….we’re still waiting for tomorrow.” It’s a page out of their nineties grunge alterna-pop playbook, and their first album in four years. The album, Strange Little Birds, is slated to be released June 10th.

all the way up remix9. All The Way Up Remix by Fat Joe, Jay-Z, Remy Ma

There was much buzz surrounding Jay-Z verse on this remix, with many news outlets declaring the mogul has ‘answered’ to Beyoncé’s LEMONADE. This turned to be simple clickbait fodder, with Hov saying only ‘You know you made it when your marriage’s worth millions’ which has been well understood for a long time. It’s really his mention of Prince that gives his part the most punch. In any case the song’s beat and melody are the perfect background for new verses from some of hip hop’s most in charge.

albin lee maldau8. Let Me Go by Albin Lee Meldau

Albin Lee Meldau may not have been around for a long time or have many albums under his belt, but he’s not too fresh to not feel the constraints of lackluster affair, serving up on Let Me Go a classic ‘If You Love Something Set It Free..” scenario. He creates a rich imagery with pounding pianos matched with howling lyrics, adding a ‘fiyaaaah, fiyyyyyah” in for good measure. For more greatness be sure to check out his other single Lou Lou.

rhcp7. The Getaway by Red Hot Chili Peppers

Anthony Kiedis may have had to sideline a few shows due to illness, but fortunately for bummed out fans we’re in the home stretch for the release of new album of the same name on June 17th, which means releases of singles to tide us over. The Getaway is full of RHCP patented funk, opting here for a low key futuristic vibe. Judging from said vibes of The Getaway and Dark Necessities it will be interesting to if similarly styled songs will compose the entirety of the album, or if there will be a few surprises in the bunch.

why you always hating yg6. Why You Always Hatin? by YG, Drake, Kamaiyah

It’s a simple question and be careful how you answer on YG’s latest, Kamaiyah along for the ride and asking in the chorus: please, please tell me why you always hating? It’s the perfect clap back track, complete with heavy bass and a hot hot hot verse from Drake. If ever there was a perfect track to turn all the way up at a red light, while the next car over gives you a dirty look; this is the one.

Flume-Skin-640x6405. Tiny Cities by Flume, Beck

“Can I, should I, find my, way home?” sings Beck in the opening of his contribution on Flume’s latest project, Skin, and sounding right at home amidst Flume’s trip hop vibe on the song. The song never takes us great heights, but keeps it interesting and engaged all the way to the end of the song. Skin is truly an interesting compilation of all types of influences, which includes appearances by the likes of Vic Mensa and Raekwon to Tove Lo and AlunaGeorge.

deadmau5-snowcone-single4. Snowcone by Deadmau5

Last we checked in with Deadmau5 he was engaged in a twitter feud with the titan of twitter feuds, Kanye West, after throwing shots at the rapper and in return being called the ultimate slanderous ‘dead mow five.’ Fortunately for those who like their EDM drama-free, Snowcone is ULTRA soothing and unassuming. There’s been rumblings since the beginning of the year of a new album, but all Deadmau5 has had to say is that 2016 has been a crap year for EDM music, so it could be anybody’s guess. Just enjoy your snowcone in peace.

charles bradley the world3. The World (Is Going Up In Flames) by Charles Bradley

To any artist being offered a Spotify Sessions it’s a high honor, but there’s some whose music sounds completely enriched stripped down. When it comes to Charles Bradley it’s as good as anyone has ever done it, giving spine tingling chills as he howls about a world killing that’s you, but with a vow to make it right. At one point he delivers a James Brown inspired ‘HUNH’ so on point it feels like a special message from the Godfather of Soul himself.

borns-zayn-its-you-cover-video-watch-640x4272. It’s You by BØRNS

It’s becoming a common occurrence to take a popular song and be covered by a fellow pop star. So common that rarely can the duplicator’s imprint stick, but NOT so with Børns’s cover of the not-so-long-ago released It’s You by ZAYN. While ZAYN’s version opts for sultry bedroom eyes vibes, Børns takes his version in a more ethereal direction, delivering a Ritchie Valenesque warble as he draws out the ‘you’ of ‘It’s you’ to high heavens. Subtle, purposeful, and only mildly subversive, on It’s You BØRNS shows his power of making a track his own.

Chance-The-Rapper-Chance-3-495x4951. No Problem by Chance The Rapper, 2 Chainz, Lil Wayne

Rarely does a rapper declaring “You don’t want no problem, want no problem with me” come across as joyful as Chance The Rapper does on No Problem. There’s no misunderstanding that the Chicago native is serious about what he has to say, but that doesn’t mean he can’t have some fun with his delivery. Pairing well on the track are both 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne, 2 Chainz summing it up best on the line “School of Hard Knocks, I took night classes.”
