This week’s group of new music places heavy emphasis on pop music and the power of DANCE. Not dancing as in idly bopping around, more like dancing like Leonardo DiCaprio in Wolf Of Wall Street, forever immortalized here in gif form. Other appearances focus on taking a “Uber Everywhere,” an ode to a commonplace activity in this the era of smartphones by Madeintyo. Charlie XCX shows her love of Lamborghinis and Ferraris on Vroom Vroom, and Jason Derulo and Flo Rida team up to celebrate every music lover’s favorite day of the week on “Hello Friday.”

9. Walking In A Circle by Santigold
Fresh off this week’s release of 99 Cents, Walking In A Circle marks a departure from previous, more higher spirited and peppy singles from the same album. Walking In A Circle feels industrial, grey, and trance like, as if alien have taken over your brain and now you’re walking in a circle under their control. Lyrics are high pitched and warpy (probably on account of the aliens) and connects back to Santigold’s more indie side, the side that we came to know her by when we were first introduced back in 2008.
8. Time by K.Michelle
Starting off with a drum roll and breaking right into a soul infused R&B power statement – two words you can’t get back are words and time – K.Michelle’s latest uses both gospel and a powerful voice to make a statement. Proving she has a sense of humor in addition to her musical talents, her third studio album will be out March 25th and titled More Issues Than Vogue.
7. Ride Of Your Life by Tinashe
It’s only natural that Tinashe would take you on the ride of your life, after all her latest album and accompanying tour is titled Joyride. The song has eery undertones and chimes that she layers over that melodic voice, which can create a groove in even the most unlikely of musical scenario; ie. using phrases like whip it, gas it, clutch it, park it, to create perfect punctuations for dance movements. Just as irresistible as 2 On, but still showing clear signs of artistic growth.
6. Love Like That by Mayer Hawthorne
As a man that describes himself as smooth dude with a gangster groove, you can practically see him waltzing down the road with a fedora artfully in place, but the gangster takes over on the first line of the song “You come around, you make me sick.” It’s a perfect balance – not too saccharin, not too rude. The Ann Arbor, Michigan native will release an impressive sixth studio album, Man About Town, on April 8th.
5. Dance Off by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis (feat. Idris Elba, Anderson Paak)
Adapting a far more lighthearted tone than their last release White Privilege II, Macklemore shows here that he takes his dance offs seriously, beginning with first with a deafening call to arms. From there he references every type of popular dance in the last twenty years in between one liners like “She just wanna talk, I said I ain’t TED.” Adding to the impact of the track are “The Voice” of movie star Idris Elba, and “The Groove” of Anderson Paak.
4. Pretender by River Run North
Drinking from a salt pond doesn’t sound like the most appetizing of activities, but on River Run North’s studio album of the same name there’s a bevy of delicious tracks to choose from. On Pretender they mix ‘realizing real lies’ with zealous alt guitar riffs and booming lyrics through the chorus – they may be your best friend, but they ain’t your biggest fan. A dramatic interpretation of the song is showcased on the band’s corresponding music video.
3. Someone Who Can Dance by Icona Pop
We all have our own preferences for personality traits of that special someone, some feelings more unique than others. When it comes to Icona Pop the break it down for you straight: “I want someone who can dance, not someone who can I can talk to.” It seems in a perfect world you’d be able to have someone who can both move and talk, but I digress. The verses are fast talking, the bass in the chorus is purposely distorted to mimic the sound when the music is turned up too high. Turn it all the way up.
2. iT’s YoU by Zayn
When Pillowtalk was released a month ago it made super fans and critics sit up and take notice; on iT’s YoU (once you see past your preferred font ‘type’ when you were in 8th grade) it’s bound to make you say, okay, this guy knows what he’s doing. Sultry and moody in all the right ways, ZAYN gets his kicks hitting those minor, distinctive notes. There’s much to look forward to on Mind of Mine, rumored to be released March 25, 2016.
1. Work From Home by Fifth Harmony, Ty Dolla $ign
There’s always a couple of instances in any given year where in a crazy serendipitous fashion two popular artists come out with an identical named song that are both standouts. Last year it was Adam Lambert & Madonna with Ghosttown(s), this year it’s Rihanna talking about work, work, work, work, work, work, and Fifth Harmony following up with instructions to put in work x7. It’s an infectious track reminiscent of Rihanna’s most popular radio hits and promises to be a hit on its own two legs.
