Distilled five times with the use of potatoes and ancient glacial water which is more than 5,000 years old, Vikingfjord Vodka is crafted in the northern reaches of Norway among the country’s iconic fjords and glaciers of epic proportions. Vikingfjord Vodka is refined from potatoes, utilizing a five-column distillation process before undergoing charcoal filtration, resulting in a smooth, silky vodka with a balanced finish which happens to be naturally gluten-free… or so we’ve been told. Over this past weekend we were given an opportunity to sit down with a bottle ourselves and separate fact from fiction the only way we know how… by sipping, swirling and mixing until the bottle is dry. And that’s exactly what we did!
Overall: We give Vikingfjord Vodka a B (Highly Recommended) It’s not totally free of the common “bite” associated with most vodkas, but does deliver a refreshingly crisp taste that isn’t oily and finishes rather smooth. We wouldn’t quite recommend Vikingfjord as a sipping vodka, but we also wouldn’t argue against it. It’s an affordable middle-of-the-road vodka… not super cheap and not exactly premium either. In our opinion this vodka is best enjoyed when mixed. It’s smooth finish and overall clean profile make it dangerous for concocting a slew of mixed drinks! Next time you’re in the mood to mix up a refreshing adult beverage or two… or three we suggest you give Vikingfjord a try, we think you’ll enjoy the experience!
