New from our friends at Big House Bourbon and Underdog Spirits is a curiously sweet bourbon launched earlier this year dubbed “Tupelo Honey.” Hand-Crafted by the experts at Lawrenceburg Distillers from a blend of premium rye, corn and malted barley – Big House Bourbon Tupelo Honey is first matured for 6 painstaking years in new charred American white oak barrels, then blended with Tupelo blossom’s nectar to achieve its honey sweetness before final bottling can take place. This new honey bourbon is said to have a rich, slightly sweet taste.
“Rich and slightly sweet”… well, I would hope so. It is after all honey bourbon – and not the first either. In the past two years a honey infusion fad has captured the distilling nation. If someone’s making bourbon or whiskey they’re probably making a honey version as well. It started with brands like Jack Daniel’s and Wild Turkey, but now even vodka and gin brands are jumping on-board with the craze. Whether it’s a fad or not – time will tell. In the mean while, if they make em’ we’ll be drinkin’ em!
