It’s always interesting when new shoes come out with spring-based designs, promises of performance-enhancing features, and unrivaled comfort. The flames of hope that all of these ideal elements can work within one pretty package usually get doused within the first run or fitness test. Let’s skip the angst and the rambling middle part of the story and get right to the ending. The Mizuno Waveknit C1 Running Shoe delivers. Simply put, these shoes cradle your ankle without rubbing, support your arches without awkward pressure, and the Infinity PEBAX Wave Plate actually springs back with each step.

Design:
From the solid rubber outsole to the curved top, the Waveknit C1 is crafted to make runners’ lives a little bit better. Founded in comfort and efficiency, the lack of excess fabric and attention to detail make the miles go by just a little quicker. The Infinity PEBAX Wave Plate provides a bounce while the premium sock liner gives your foot a nice encouraging hug, balancing comfort and performance easily.
Comfort:
It all starts with the premium sock liner. The soft cushioning that envelopes the foot creates the perfect foundation for the shoe. Adding to the elements of comfort, the WAVEKNIT™ technology allows superior breathability to create airflow with every step. Cushioning the impact of every step, the Infinity PEBAX Wave Plate reduces the strain on the heel and mid-foot, while the curved top allows for plenty of breathing room in the toe box.
Performance:
The shoes feel a bit heavy when you first pick it up, but the balance is noticeable with the first step. Honestly, the push-back spring motion was a little quirky at first, but after walking for about a minute I didn’t want to put any other shoes on. There’s a sort of massaging action that the Infinity PEBAX Wave Plate provides making it feel like a cross between memory foam and bouncy shoes encased in support.
I’m not sure if it was actually the shoe or psychological but the daily run became more enjoyable and quicker. Now I’m not saying I’ll be breaking any records (unless they offer boosters) but with the eased impact and the distribution of force throughout the shoe, it did feel remarkably easier on the body throughout the entire run.
Durability:
The 360-degree grip provided by the sturdy rubber outsole combined with the solid carbon rubber creates a longlasting performance. Basically, these shoes aren’t going to be a one-and-done. The shape of the shoe allows it to conform to your stride rather than fight it, minimizing the inevitable wear and tear on the fabric and sole.
Value:
For $180 you’re paying for a premium running shoe that better deliver on what it promises. The Mizuno Waveknit C1 backs up the talk with real features that work. They are breathable, comfortable, supportive, and expertly designed, making them well worth the price tag.
