This week’s list weigh heavy in pop, with a remix out of the ultra hot Hey Mama by David Guetta, a new one from Hilary Duff, and more from Adam Lambert. Spotify attempts to balance the musical scales with appearances by indie favorites Vance Joy and The Maccabees.

roses chainsmokers10. Roses by The Chainsmokers, ROZES

If you’re expecting an in your face statement on modern age self absorption like the group’s defining single #Selfie, keep moving. This one is as mellow as EDM gets, it’s pace falling somewhere in between #Selfie and the original Kanye. The Chainsmokers have brought new comer ROZES along for the ride, capitalizing on her harmonic pipes, and a coincidental similar namesake.

travie-mccoy-teams-up-with-sia-on-golden

8. Golden by Travie McCoy feat. Sia

Fitting Travis McCoy brought Sia along for a track titled Golden, as anything Sia includes herself in, from writing to contributor to superstar, she spins it into gold. Such is proven here as she teams up with Travis McCoy of Gym Class Heroes fame, who has had some of his best material come from his duets. Golden is a track dedicated to pledging eternal love in that initial warm fuzzy infatuation stage – “for the sakes of being overly cheesy, I think it’s cute we both like our eggs over easy” – sums it up.

wolf alice7. You’re A Germ by Wolf Alice

90s alternative rock holds a special place in many a music lover’s heart – it vintage, not classic, rock. Wolf Alice has all the key components – near whispered verses, a chorus screamed out by a powerful female stunner, all while maintaining a withdrawn, grunge-d out whatever attitude. What’s not to love?

true love

6. True Love by Tobias Jesso Jr.

Over produced songs and albums do not maketh the man, as Tobias Jesso Jr proves here on his riveting single True Love. Sit him in front of a piano, provide a mic, and he’s set for the song. Fans of a simple and authentic style of music will love his debut album Goon, released earlier in the year, that features many similarly styled tracks.

day wave5. We Try But We Don’t Fit In by Day Wave

Is it possible for a song to sound like an Instagram filter? It may seem odd, but upon first listen of Day Wave’s latest the song seems seeped in ‘Hudson’ or perhaps even ‘Perpetua.’ Using a topic of interest that could be very likely why indie music was first created, the song is full of just enough energy and oomph, ensuring that is has a signature indie sound to match its filter.

beck dreams4. Dreams by Beck

Showing no signs of letting up, Beck is back again, this time issuing a call to chase down the dreams of daytime, not night. Dreams incapsulates what makes him one of music’s greatest masterminds, switching gears with the success he’s had most recently – the morning fresh vibe from Morning phase is gone here – to a more of an alt pop fast vibe. It’s not often said in relation to his songs, but it’s a great one to boogie down to.
