The biggest news in music this week is most likely to be Desiigner’s  new discombobulating one, Timmy Turner (spoiler alert: Timmy Turner is a reference to Desiigner himself!) and Justin Bieber’s, having spread his EDM wings towards Major Lazer on Cold Water, for maximum play count results. But on Fresh New Music we’re all about new vibes and unearthing little gems, so our focus is there for a moment, yes, but in other delicious parts of new music as well.

Have a listen for yourself over on Spotify, New Music Friday has got a rundown of all of this week’s new tracks. Need reinforcements? Check out Busted Wallet’s New Music Friday All Stars for all of the good stuff over the last few months.

not nice10. Not Nice by PARTYNEXTDOOR

When it comes to calling people on their poor behavior, the term ‘not nice’ is among those that would be considered pretty weak. But’s just what the fun-loving act of PARTYNEXTDOOR chooses to use on their latest, having a Rihanna ‘Work’ tempo and energy. combining shots like ‘you’re not nice, you’re rude’ with ‘i need to a hold-a-corn-a, and then slow whine it.’ A perfect one when you’re ready to whine towards the dance floor.

angelica garcia9. Orange Flower by Angelica Garcia

There’s something ‘way existential’ about lyrics contemplating the meaning of receiving a orange flower: “Am I halfway to red? And halfway to yellow? Am I his mother or his lover? Or somewhere in the middle?” Perhaps one will never know the full meaning of such a bestowal, but in any case it’s a strong debut for Angelica Garcia. She has a youthful exuberance similar to that of Alessia Cara, albeit one that’s a little more alternative, a little less R&B.

french montana8. No Shopping by French Montana, Drake

When it comes to being a part of Drake’s crew there’s a few guidelines one most follow, the number one rule being ‘New friends need not apply.’ Now it seems when the forces of French Montana and Drake combine there will be no gifts baskets either. French keeps it breezy with lines like ‘sippin on the drank I ain’t tryin’ thank’ while Drake nails down the meatier verses and overall holds the track together.

denm7. Lit by DENM

If one ever wants to a pen a song that truly captures the zeitgeist of the moment, an easy start is taking a popular phrase, one that’s hard to pinpoint when it exactly became popular, but you  know that now it cannot be escaped. Showing how it’s done, the chorus states ‘I think I’m lit on love, I think I’m lit on you.’ So yes, DENM has easily captured our attention, but maintains it with a well produced EDM flavored track.

super duper6. Angela by Super Duper

When you’re in a need of an alarm or a simple pick-me-up, consider Angela first, which mentions to drop beats that are simultaneously jarring and soothing, with a bit of finesse. No lyrics needed on this one, just a simple ultra song to vibe with.

nojustice-640x6405. No Justice by Ty Dolla $ign, Big TC

The power of music in a healing capacity is extraordinary, even if it just hearing a familiar voice refusing to go silent on the tragic events of Summer 2016. On No Justice Ty Dolla $ign provides a quiet, candlelit vigil type of comfort. Adding to the track is the voice of Big TC, Ty’s brother who stopped at no lengths to provide his vocals while currently being incarcerated. Every emotion has its proper time and place, and on No Justice it indicates we are still in mourning.

HamRos10004. A 1000 Times by Hamilton Leihauser + Rostam

Merry are the duos that are composed from members of two separate but equally well-known bands, like Hamilton Leithauser hailing from The Walkmen and Rostam Batmanglij, from Vampire Weekend. The song starts out slow and paces itself to soon being one you could envision drunks singing in the streets at 3am, or at the very least, after waking up from a dream you’ve had a 1000 times.

painting3. Painting (Masterpiece) by Lewis Del Mar

Since their release of Loud(y) last year, Lewis Del Mar has become something of a New Music Friday darling, every release since has been featured on the list. And for good reason, as the style can best be described as ‘eclectically lit.’ On Painting (Masterpiece) it gets more lyrical and harmonious, the most chillingest single so far. Given the topic ‘If you want it, you can have it, every color that you see,’ this one is a great one to play during a sunset.

prophets of rage2. Prophets of Rage by Prophets of Rage

Surreal to think the last time Rage Against The Machine released an album of new material it was on The Battle of Los Angeles, a title that would go on to to describe the 2000 Democratic National Convention. Now again in an election year it’s a powerhouse team composed of members from RATM, Cypress Hill & Public Enemy, debuting this time at the Republican National Convention. The song breathes new life into an old vibe we’re so desperately in need of during these times. Clear the way for the prophets of rage.

lupe fiasco1. Pick Up The Phone by Lupe Fiasco

It’s amazing in today’s world of 24/7 availability and connection how many songs keep on popping up about answering the phone. No shade thrown to Lupe though, who has given us a solid track to marinate for the first time in too long of a time. The subject matter might lean towards frustration, but the vibe is on the come up and triumphant, much like the vibe given off on Superstar when we first got to know Lupe. If ringbacks were still a thing, this would be the most perfect of choices.
