This past weekend our newsfeeds and timelines were undoubtedly bombarded with social media updates from the Coachella Music Festival in Indio California, and with endless Jenner and Dicaprio sightings and must see clips for those not participating it could be a real downer. Fortunately, Spotify had some of its best people on the case for new music this week. Both The Chainsmokers and Sia came out with remixes of the biggest songs, Don’t Let Me Down and Cheap Thrills respectively. Indie favorite The Temper Trap bounced back into sight with Fall Together, and Rae Sremmurd told everybody to Look Alive.

Spotify is always here for your 24/7, but their list of latest new music is not; head over to New Music Friday before it resets itself on Friday. Be sure to catch up on all the new music goodies; New Music All Stars has got you covered on all the top hits since the beginning of the year.

avett-brothers-true-sadness10. Ain’t No Man by The Avett Brothers

Oh, the joys of self preservation! On the brothers Avett latest they’ve provided us with an affirmation-full feel good foot stomper. Regarding the single Seth Avett stated in a press release “I think of it as a self-motivating anthem…a kind of currency to buy a little courage when you’re having trouble feeling courageous on your own.” The song will serve as motivation for getting out of bed in the morning, or mentally prepping yourself to work out. Find more where that came from on June 24th when their album True Sadness comes out.

brett dennen9. Cassidy by Brett Dennen

A peaceful easy feeling will wash over you as you listen to Brett Dennen harmonize about reggae music on the beach, and musing over a woman with the ocean in her hair. The singer himself branded the song as a happy groovy love bomb on his Facebook page, adding on his website that the new album Por Favor helped him get through on a time when he felt he was on the verge of breaking down. We’ll have to wait until May 20th to here the full discourse.

pink-just-like-fire-28. Just Like Fire by P!nk

There’s something very serendipitous about a cotton candy colored hair musical vixen providing her vocals off the soundtrack for Alice Through the Looking Glass, out May 27th. P!nk brings it out in full force, declaring “Watch this madness, colorful charade, no one can be like me anyway.” Be sure to also catch the singer’s cover of Jefferson Airplane’s iconic White Rabbit, which also appears on the movie soundtrack.

asap-ferg-always-strive-and-prosper7. Strive by A$AP Ferg, Missy Elliott

A$AP Ferg’s streak of all around greatness of new releases continue with Strive, so much so even notoriously hard to please (unless you’re Beyonce) Kanye West took to Twitter recently to say ‘I love this new A$AP Ferg album!!!!’ Strive gets you grooving in the best way possible, pumping you full of good vibes in the chorus and then laying it down in the verses. Missy absolutely kills her verse, going off like the bad lil sum’n only can.

young the giant6. Amerika by Young The Giant

Mystical and ethereal vibes hit you square in the face on the opening of Amerika, as lead singer Sameer Gadhia muses “Are you paying attention?” before breaking out into the song’s pace and beat. It’s quite a contradiction from one of the band’s best known songs, My Body, opting here more for philosophical musings instead of riotous bouts of motivation.

edwardsharpe5. No Love Like Yours by Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros

Much in a similar manner as last week’s top of the heap of new music Ben Harper, Edward Sharpe has got a lockdown on romantic gestures in sweeping folksy fashion. On No Love Like Yours, the singer starts off in a “Don’t know much but I know I love you” sort of way declaring in eternal love and a request to show me love, show me lovvveee and collapsing into a heap of indie guitar licks. You’ll want to groove in a open field with this one, and fortunately for you the band will be all over the map all summer long.

Pop-Style-compressed4. Pop Style by Drake, The Throne

“All I want to do is Pop Style, turn my birthday into a lifestyle” is how Drake chose to open the song, and thus getting to the song’s mission statement pretty damn quickly, opting here for a low key laid back vibe rather than an over the top summer jam. Speaking of over the top, the song states its perfomers are Drake and “The Throne” which you might better recognize as Watch The Throners Jay-Z and Kanye West. Nothing can jazz up a verse more than adding these two to tracks, especially with them singing about Pablo.

meghan trainor i love me3. I Love Me by Meghan Trainor

There’s no question with the stratospheric success of All About That Bass that Meghan Trainor is all about loving yourself for the person that you are. On I Love Me she keeps that sentiment going, here a little more literally, mixing lines like they gon’ try to clip my wings but I’m gon’ fly” in between hand claps and licks from the equally self loving Lunchmoney Lewis.

Sigala-Give-Me-Your-Love-2016-2480x24802. Give Me Your Love by Sigala

Sigala gets it moving fresh out the gate on Give Me Your Love, a track so fun loving and earth moving it would serve well as the background beat of a video full of highlights from a music festival. The London DJ’s 2016 continues to serve him well, as Give Me Your Love is the second single this year to give him recognition. The zealous pace combined with yearning lyrics make it the go to track for the final ‘give it all you got’ minutes of your workout.

DrakeOneDance1.One Dance by Drake, Wizkid, Kyla

Every summer needs a jam to keep them moving from early Spring to the final notes of Labor Day weekend, and on One Dance Drake makes his best case. The song has a Hotline Bling vibe to it, where its mellow mood is unassuming, until all of a sudden you find yourself dancing in short steps around the house, and heaven help the person who tries to coax you out of your vibe. To keep the music groove going Drake has recruited lesser knowns like Nigerian recording artist Wizkid, and the sweet voice of Kyla. Add it to your Summer 2016 Jams playlist immediately.
