This week’s field is thick with big names in music (uh hello, Madonna). With over 50 new songs to listen to, among them you’ll find releases from instantly recognizable names, such as the aforementioned Madge, Mumford & Sons, Snoop Dogg, Death Cab for Cutie, AWOLNATION, Jason Derulo, and Wiz Khalifa.

10. Trust Fall by Incubus
2011 was the last time Incubus last put out an album – Trust Fall slowly eases us back in, then rocks hard. This is an easy to identify Incubus anthem that’s sure to be refreshing for fans of the band after 4 years away. The best line in the song is undoubtedly “I like it when you look at me like an alien”, but there’s also poetic spoken words by Brandon Boyd, that pulls the song beautifully together at the close.
9. Iconic by Madonna
After what feels like forever, Madonna’s official (see: not leaked) album is available for streaming. With so many interesting tracks on Rebel Heart, Iconic is a solid standout. How many artists can say they’ve had Mike Tyson open up their tracks? This is a dance track that simply breaks it down, but also pumps you full of inspiring lyrics “Just shine your light like a beautiful star, show the world who you are.” Coming from one of the world’s biggest superstars, these encouragements mean just that extra bit more.
8. Peaches N Cream by Snoop Dogg
There are many many sides to Mr. Doggie Dogg; Peaches N Cream is just the smooth and oh so silky side. The lyrics progress so easily over the beat, it’s hard to resist grooving, even if you’re sitting down. Freak don’t fail me now!
7. Give Me A Try by The Wombats
The Wombats have mastered the art of storytelling through song, and on Give Me a Try they’re trying their damnedest to win your affection. Their tactics may be unusual (“I’m shaving with your toothpaste and vacuuming from the ceiling”) but the high tempo and pumping energy through the song make the story worthy of a close listen. The Wombat’s long awaited album “Glitterbug” will be released on April 5th.
6. Stay A Little Longer by Brothers Osborne
Brothers Osborne have such a likable presence and create easy to sing-a-long songs that gives country a GOOD name. Stay a Little Longer is an ode to creating memories and making them stretch for as long as you can, and with songs like these Brothers Osborne should be in top position on country music charts for a long time as well.
5. Home by Madeon
With so many collaborations, remixes, and mash-ups, it’s easy to overlook that Madeon’s forthcoming album is his first. The sounds Madeon creates on Home make it appear that ‘Home’ to the talented Frenchman may actually be somewhere in outer space. The bass kicks in hard, and the song storms on, creating an impactful track worth a couple listens in a row.
4. Break the Fall by Laura Welsh
Leave it to phonetics, or possibly red hair; it is really tempting to compare Laura Welsh to Florence Welch of Florence & the Machines. Haunting harmonies with a dash of driving bass help the Londoner to stand out all her own. Welsh is enjoying success from her contribution to the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack, and will only continue with singles like Break the Fall.
3. Holy Moly by Matthew E. White
A gentle, gradually building track, Holy Moly has an unique & moving feel that could easily fit in as a key piece on a movie’s soundtrack. Matthew E. White plays it so cool, whispering ‘don’t you ever get a man false hope, false hope’, that even as the song crescendos it sounds perfectly chill.
2. Keep It Movin’ (featuring Serayah McNeill) by Empire Cast
From the show that, while going the extra mile to make sure the songs could pass for today’s top hits, ended up creating music that sounds better than much of what’s on the charts. Finally available for streaming, Keep It Movin’ highlights what has made Empire’s soundtrack so popular – R&B princesses & hip hop princes laying it down over instantly likable beats.
1. Lay Me Down by Sam Smith & John Legend
It’s easy to think that after this year’s Grammy’s and Oscars one may need a small break from both Sam Smith and John Legend. Not so on Lay Me Down, in fact whoever convinced the two to do a duet deserves a raise. Both so strong on their own, when they come together over Legend’s piano, the result is dynamic. In short, they killed it with this one. Insta-classic.
