Cross Golf Rewind Polo
Founded in Sweden in 1986, the Cross Sportswear brand might not be a household name like Nike or Callaway (yet), but they’re emerging with some exciting new golf apparel that you might want to be on the look out for. For this article, one golf shirt in particular caught our eye – the Cross Golf Rewind Polo. This lightweight three-button polo features cut and sew paneling at the front with printed argyle crafted from Quickdry polyester pique fabric.

  • Comfort………………….. 7
  • Breath-ability…………… 9
  • Wicking………………….. 8
  • Style……………………… 9.5
  • Affordability……………… 4

Overall: (37.5 out of 50) Awarded “Most Stylish” by our reviewers for its eye popping argyle design, the Cross Golf Rewind Polo was a surprise last minute addition to our review line-up. This polo is obviously handsome, but also proved to deliver fantastic wicking and breath-ability on the course making even the hottest days nothing to sweat over. Our only real gripe with this polo would have to be the elastic arm cuffs that proved to be a tad bit too snug for our liking. Beyond that, it’s lovely!

FILA Bristol Polo
Engineered with moisture wicking and anti-bacterial fabrics, the Bristol Polo from FILA Golf is a rather expensive and stylish 3-button polo that features a hidden placket, golf tail and side vents for added ventilation. Crafted from 91% Recycled Polyester and 9% Lycra this golf polo is said to be extremely soft and built to keep you cool, dry, and comfortable during any activity.

  • Comfort………………….. 8
  • Breath-ability…………… 7
  • Wicking………………….. 8.5
  • Style……………………… 7
  • Affordability……………… 3

Overall: (33.5 out of 50) By far the biggest detractor when reviewing this polo was its steep price tag. Though, if you can get past the initial sticker shock, you’ll find a very nice golf shirt in our opinion. During testing we found the FILA Bristol Polo to be a very comfy shirt overall and were happily surprised with its performance in both wicking and breath-ability. This polo might not be the valedictorian of the class, but it surely made the honor-roll.

Puma Tech Graphic Polo
Designed for modern golfers who have style and aren’t afraid to put it on display – the new Puma Tech Graphic Polo features an in-your-face vibrant print that subliminally lets your playing partners know (as Rickie Fowler would say) it’s GO TIME! Its 100% polyester dryCELL construction is said to deliver excellent moisture-wicking properties that help keep you dry and comfortable. Here’s what we discovered…

  • Comfort………………….. 7.5
  • Breath-ability…………… 9
  • Wicking………………….. 9
  • Style……………………… 8.5
  • Affordability………………. 6

Overall: (40 out of 50) This is a very well balanced polo that delivers well in just about every category we tested it in. In the end our review staff came away impressed with the Puma Tech Graphic Polo’s overall styling which might be a little too bold for some golfers, but suited our taste perfectly. We also found the build quality to be exceptional (stitching, fabric, etc…) and most notably its wicking and breath-ability properties proved to be best-in-class – delivering a cool and dry round no matter the temperature.

Their mission: “To design & produce the best quality and most stylish golf apparel in the marketplace today, through cutting edge designs, excellent functionality and perfect fit.” Let see if they hit the mark…

  • Comfort………………….. 8.5
  • Breath-ability…………… 7.5
  • Wicking………………….. 8
  • Style……………………… 7
  • Affordability……………… 8

Overall: (39 out of 50) There are certain applications were less equates to more, and with this polo in particular that’s exactly the case. The mostly plain body is accented nicely with a pop of color on the left breast with an unique hipster-esq British/IJP logo that will be sure to catch everyone’s attention in your 4-some. Throughout testing we were very happy with the comfort and wicking properties this polo delivered, but one of the stand out features we must make mention of was the collar – which never seems to get bent out of shape. It just stays put, perfectly.

Ashworth Performance EZ-SOF Blocked Polo
The Ashworth Performance EZ-SOF Blocked Polo is more than mouth-full to say, but don’t let its cumbersome name fool you. Because this 4-button, 100% polyester golf shirt is said to be equal parts fashionable, comfortable and lightweight. To achieve these feats Ashworth developed this polo from EZ-TEC2, a highly-breathable and quick-drying performance fabric which is coveted for it’s wrinkle, shrink and color fade resistance. Now here’s what we thought…

  • Comfort………………….. 8
  • Breath-ability…………… 6.5
  • Wicking………………….. 7.5
  • Style……………………… 8.5
  • Affordability……………… 6

Overall: (36.5 out of 50) This was one of my favorite shirts to wear off the course, but it didn’t quite stack up against the rest on the course. In comfort and style this polo effectively delivered on its promises, but for the $75 price tag it remained somewhat mediocre in the wicking and breath-ability departments. If anything we’d recommend this polo for cooler days on the course or any day at the bar.

Under Armour Energy Graphic Stripe Polo
First intended for coaching staff on the sidelines, Under Armour has now brought their athletic technology to golf course in the form of the new Energy Graphic Stripe Polo. Which promises to keep you cool, dry, and mobile all the while avoiding wrinkles, snags, odor, and fading. A tall order if you ask us… but then we tested it… here’s what we found out.

  • Comfort………………….. 10
  • Breath-ability…………… 7.5
  • Wicking………………….. 8
  • Style……………………… 7
  • Affordability……………… 6

Overall: (38.5 out of 50) After testing the Energy Graphic Stripe Polo over two rounds of golf and several sessions on the range it’s very clear to us why Under Armour has taken over the athletic apparel market in just a few years. This polo is like wearing nothing at all. We’re talking zero restriction though the golf swing – not one iota! It’s simply the most comfortable golf polo we’ve ever tested. If UA could now crank up the styling and give it a price break at $45 or so, we could end this review article right here and now.

Greg Norman ML75 Fine Stripe Polo
Said to be 30% lighter than the average golf shirt, the Greg Norman ML75 Fine Stripe Polo is produced from super fine microfiber yarn which is outfitted with moisture wicking and wrinkle resistant properties. When you think of golfing’s greats Greg Norman is always near the top of the list, so there was no question we had to find a place for some of his newest apparel on our list.

  • Comfort………………….. 7
  • Breath-ability…………… 8.5
  • Wicking………………….. 8.5
  • Style……………………… 7.5
  • Affordability……………… 6

Overall: (37.5 out of 50) Like the previous polo, the Greg Norman ML75 Fine Stripe Polo makes a great statement both on and off the course. A few high points that we’d like to mention are the fact that this polo is surprisingly lightweight, well equipped for hot weather and easily expels excess body heat quickly and efficiently, while also removing excess moisture with its excellent wicking properties. Not the cheapest, but far from the most pricey – this is a fine polo.

  • Affordability……………… 9.5

Overall: (39 out of 50) Easily the most affordable golf shirt in our list, the Callaway Chev Stripe Polo is a steal on Amazon at just $25 and beyond its low-low price, it’s also incredibly functional as well. Its loose fitting cut is super comfy and non-restrictive as well. Maybe not the most fashion forward look, but classic and functional for sure.

Loud Mouth Golf Essential Polo
Clearly one of the most subdued pieces of apparel in the Loudmouth Golf collection, the Essential Polo (available in 19 color options) is what the folks at Loudmouth Golf like to classify as a simple, fuller, “American” cut shirt. Praised for being roomy and brightly-colored, these golf shirts are 100% poly pique and out fitted with a moisture wicking finish to keep you dry and comfortable even in the depths of summer.

  • Comfort………………….. 6
  • Breath-ability…………… 5
  • Wicking………………….. 5
  • Style……………………… 6
  • Affordability……………… 7

Overall: (29 out of 50) This is a classic polo design. Humble in appearance, but perfectly functional for golf. It might not be exactly what you’d expect from the over-the-top Loudmouth Golf brand, but it’s a nice departure from some of their wild designs and patterns. While the Loud Mouth Golf Essential Polo didn’t prove to overly profecient in any one review criteria – it does remain a fine polo at a decent price.

Puma Tech Raglan Golf Polo
Crafted from S.Cafe yarns (derived from coffee beans) and equipped with coolCELL wicking tech, the new Tech Raglan Golf Polo from Puma Golf on paper is a golfer’s dream shirt. We’re talking sweat-wicking fabric, mesh panels to keep you cool, odor control, UV protection and sleeves engineered to reduce friction during your swing. Like we said – on paper this is a dream shirt, but how does it really perform? We found out…

  • Comfort………………….. 9.5
  • Breath-ability…………… 9
  • Wicking………………….. 8
  • Style……………………… 5.5
  • Affordability……………… 7

Overall: (38.5 out of 50) Ranking high in comfort and breath-ability as well as wicking in the eyes of our reviewers – the Puma Tech Raglan Golf Polo isn’t the most fashionable golf shirt from Puma, but it’s a straight-up golfing machine! From the collar to the friction-free sleeves this polo is amazingly comfortable and exudes a subtle confidence that’s hard to explain unless you’re the one wearing it.

Oakley Hirst Polo
With its 2-button v-neck design, the Oakley Hirst Polo and its O Hydrolix technology is said to offer a comfy athletic fit and UV protection while delivering excellent wicking management that actually helps pull your body’s sweat to the fabric’s surface for quick evaporation. Earlier in this slideshow, Oakley cleaned up with one of our highest rankings and Editor’s Choice award. Now let’s see how the Hirst stacks up…

  • Comfort………………….. 8
  • Breath-ability…………… 7
  • Wicking………………….. 8
  • Style……………………… 6.5
  • Affordability……………… 7

Overall: (36.5 out of 50) If this were golf the Hirst Polo would be shooting even par after 9 holes. A pretty good score if you ask us, but nothing to write home about. A few aspects we truly did appreciate were it’s overall comfort and non-restrictive fit. A shirt that feels good will help you play good (and vice versa), this is a fact. With the Hirst we didn’t have much to complain about nor too much get excited over… kinda like shooting even par after nine hole, but damn it feels good.

IJP Raglan Polo
Noted as one of Ian Poulter’s personal favorites (that isn’t a Ferrari), the Raglan Polo from IJP Design is the company’s high performance technical shirt. A lightweight, quick dry polo shirt with a nifty button down collar and a comfortable sleeve design tailored for golfers. Also available in – black, red, white, navy, pink, grey the Raglan Polo is versatile enough to fit any golfer’s color palette.

  • Comfort………………….. 9
  • Breath-ability…………… 8.5
  • Wicking………………….. 7
  • Style……………………… 4
  • Affordability……………… 6

Overall: (34.5 out of 50) Far from the most stylish (or affordable) polo we tested, the Raglan Polo stands out in other ways – like its exceptional comfort that is genuinely perfect for the game of golf. The sleeves were specially designed to reduce friction, and that they do. Also, this shirt is extremely lightweight. I’m talking feathery! If you’re in search of a modest look and next to nothing lightness, the Raglan is a mighty fine choice in our opinion.

Under Armour Draw Stripe Pique Polo 3.0
Weighing in an 4.1 oz, the Draw Stripe Pique Polo 3.0 from Under Armor is made from highly breathable polyester which also makes it lightweight. Its subtly textured fabric is said to provide superior durability while features like Under Armour’s signature moisture transport system wicks sweat away from the body and anti-odor technology prevents the growth of odor causing microbes.

  • Comfort………………….. 8.5
  • Breath-ability…………… 8
  • Wicking………………….. 7.5
  • Style……………………… 7.5
  • Affordability……………… 7.5

Overall: (39 out of 50) Through and through, this was one of our top polo’s tested. Under Armour simply knows comfort and performance, it’s what they do. Garnering high praises from our reviewing staff in almost every category the only gripe we have with the Draw Stripe Pique Polo 3.0 is that it snags somewhat easily, but as long as you can avoid the pricker bushes on your way to hole 18 you shouldn’t have any issues.

FILA Le Mans Polo
Much like the sports cars that participate in the 24 hour endurance race for which it is named, the FILA Le Mans Polo was built first and foremost with performance in-mind with features like moisture wicking technology, anti-bacterial fabrics, a golf tail and side vents. FILA might not be the first name that comes to mind when you’re shopping for golf apparel, but take note, because they’re a brand who listens to what golfer want, and then gives it to them.

  • Comfort………………….. 9
  • Breath-ability…………… 8
  • Wicking………………….. 7.5
  • Style……………………… 8
  • Affordability……………… 5.5

Overall: (38 out of 50) If you’re looking for pure comfort while on the course it’s hard to beat the Le Mans Polo from FILA. The fabrics are very soft and move effortlessly with your swing. It would be great to see this shirt on sale for $50 (buy it if you do!) but at $80 it’s still a solid purchase when you consider its superb venting, excellent wicking and overall comfort. You might be the only one on the course wearing FILA, but someone’s got to start the trend, right!?

Loud Mouth Fancy Paint Balls Polo
From the brand that John Daly made famous on tour, the Fancy Paint Balls Polo by Loud Mouth Golf is by far the most in-your-face design we tested for this review article. And it’s really no surprise, because Loud Mouth embraces the outrageous and simply makes fun apparel for men and women. Shocking and loud prints are one thing, but how will it rank in comfort, wicking, etc… well, here’s what we discovered.

  • Comfort………………….. 8
  • Breath-ability…………… 8
  • Wicking………………….. 7
  • Style……………………… 7.5
  • Affordability……………… 6

Overall: (36.5 out of 50) Obviously, this golf shirt has got the “WOW Factor” in the style department, but what impressed us more were its competitive marks in comfort, ventilation and wicking. The Loud Mouth Fancy Paint Balls Polo seems kinda gimmicky at first glance, but there’s come actual technology at work here. The shirt itself is quite light and even on the hottest days of testing it still delivered a cool fit that wasn’t restrictive in the least.
