Podcasts are the best type of entertainment if you ask me. They’re easy to consume, you can take them with you almost anywhere and typically don’t cost a dime. The only problem is… which podcasts are worth listening to? Well, here at the Busted Wallet HQ we listen to quite a few podcasts throughout the day. We like it all, but lately tend to gravitate towards sports and comedy shows. That being the case, we thought we’d piece together a little article with 7 podcasts we recommend listening to. So without further adieu, in no specific order, here we go!

Comedy Bang! Bang!

Improve, comedy and ridiculous games. The Comedy Bang! Bang! podcast is mindless fun from start to finish. The host, Scott Aukerman typically has one legit guest per episode (Amy Pholer, Weird Al,  Paul F. Tompkins, Jessica St. Clair, Nick Kroll… and more!) which is abruptly interrupted by some character walking into the studio. The podcast is always funny and always NSFW. They book great guests and now have even spun off into and IFC television show which is about to start its 5th season! If you’re looking for a fun way to burn an hour out of your day Comedy Bang! Bang! is a favorite in a the BW HQ.  Here’s a recent episode that really got us laughing…

The Joe Rogan Experince

This is one podcast you can be sure is NSFW, but is totally worth your time! Joe Rogan is best known for his roles on TV, staring on Fear Factor and News Radio. He’s currently is the energetic ring-side voice of the UFC, calling color for most of the Pay-per-View bouts. His podcast, aka “JRE” delves deep in to science, drugs, stand-up comedy, martial arts, health and fitness. If you’re looking for an education on all things weird, funny, tech, conspiracy and fitness – mixed in with a sprinkling of dick-jokes along the way, this podcast is great listening. Though we’ll warn you most of his podcasts clock in at an amazing 3hrs in length per episode, though they seem that long. Here’s a recent podcast Joe posted with an Dr. Rhonda Patrick, who is a Ph.D in biomedical science and expert on nutritional health. Interesting stuff!

Dan Patrick Show

A podcast for sports fans that aren’t DIEHARD sports fans, The Dan Patrick Show keeps you up to date on everything important in sport and then mixes in a healthy dose of pop culture. On any given day Dan and his “Danettes” will discuss the playoffs, draft day or re-cap last nights games, but where the real entertainment value lies is in Dan’s 25+ years of broadcasting. He’s got some the BEST stories. From the good ole days back at ESPN hosting Sports Center, and meeting Muhammad Ali, to partying with the Stanely Cup in NY. He’s handed out the Lombardi Trophy and played golf with John Daly. He’s not only the host of a “highly rated radio talk show” either – he’s co-host of NBC’s Football Night in America and does some drive-bys at the Olympics every couple of years. If you’re looking for something to kill time at work, there’s not a better sports talk radio show you could listen to in our opinion. The Dan Patrick Show is a simulcast, so you can listen to it or watch it on NBC SN or DirecTV’s Audience channel. Here’s a segment from last week with David Spade…

You Made It Weird

Hosted by the comedian, sometimes vegan, and always hilarious Pete Holmes, You Made It Weird is a one-on-one converstation style podcast in which Pete tries to find out everything about his guest. From stupid bits and jokes to asking his guests “what’s the meaning of life” each episode, this podcast is a really interesting listen each week. He books monster guest too. Like Jimmy Kimmel, Judd Apatow and Dan Harmon. Here’s a recent episode we loved with the oh so funny Ellie Kemper…
