Buckshot Pro Review Breakdown

Design:

The Buckshot Pro was designed and developed to be extremely versatile to be your go-to speaker on any outdoor adventure.  The first thing you will notice about the Buckshot Pro is how small it is, but don’t let that fool you as it comes packed with a lot of features.  In addition to pumping out your playlist via Bluetooth, the Buckshot Pro can also be used as a USB charger for your phone and as a flashlight. Designed to replicate a shotgun shell, the speaker weighs in at 6.7 ounces and includes a passive bass port for bigger sound. The speaker also comes equipped with a bicycle handlebar mounting strap so you can enjoy some music on your next bike trip while also charging your phone and using the flashlight to illuminate the road in front in you. In addition to all of this, the Buckshot is water resistant, rated to the IPX5 standard.  If the goal was versatility by the Outdoor Tech crew, then goal achieved!

Acoustics:

Given its size it is very easy to underestimate the Buckshot Pro when it comes to sound.  When we connected via Bluetooth and fired the speaker up there was a collective “wow” in the room as we were shocked at the sound it was able to produce.  We would love some extra bass to round out the sound. You will find higher cost speakers that produce richer sounds with bigger bass, but you will not get the versatility that the Buckshot Pro offers.  Whether you are on a bike ride, camping in the woods or just enjoying some tunes in the back yard, the Buckshot will provide a quality sound that will not disappoint.

Bluetooth/Battery Life:

Connecting to the Buckshot pro is extremely easy and you are ready to go within a few seconds. Outdoor Tech touts the wireless range at 32 feet but we were not able to replicate that in our testing.  We were only able to get about 20-25 feet before we started to lose solid connection.  Given that the Buckshot Pro will be close to you in most of your outdoor adventures, we really did not notice the break in connection until we were doing the distance testing.  When we were taking the speaker out for activities it was usually connected to our backpack, handlebars or the dog.

Battery life is advertised as 10 hours and we were able to achieve between 9 and 11 hours consistently in our testing.  We only got about 9 hours when we used it to charge our cell phone and used the flashlight feature, which will cut down on battery life.  Overall, the Buckshot Pro lasts a long time and will not disappoint you on your next adventure.

Value:

When we found out the Buckshot Pro retails for $79.95, we thought they were joking.  For that price we are not quite sure how they are making a profit on it.  Compared to other speakers in that price range you will be hard pressed to find any that offer as many attributes as the Buckshot Pro.  In addition to the quality sound, you get a water-resistant speaker that can charge your phone and serve as a flashlight.  If you are in search of a gift for your outdoor junkie friend or significant other then we highly recommend the Buckshot Pro.  You can great gift while not busting your wallet (pun intended).  Enjoy!
