Forget the ridiculous gadgets and super-cars,  in Skyfall – the 23rd installment of the 007 franchise, the Broccoli/Wilson family and director Sam Mendes decided to take a more gritty – back to basics approach with James Bond and his mission. By all accounts it appears to have paid off. During its time in the theaters, Skyfall grossed more than $1 billion dollars world-wide and became the highest grossing film ever in the United Kingdom. Which is all icing on the cake when you consider Skyfall is celebrating Bond’s 50th anniversary in cinema.

Skyfall: Blu-ray Review

In Skyfall, James Bond (Daniel Craig) is after a new type of terrorist and possibly one of the most memorable villains the 007 series has ever seen – “Silva” (Javier Bardem). Along the way Bond teams up with “Q” (Ben Whishaw) and Eve (Naomie Harris) to track down Silva and stop him from releasing the names of active British MI6 operatives.

The film takes place in exotic locations such as London (of course), Turkey and Shanghai. We won’t spoil the plot for you, but be ready for unexpected twists, massive amounts of exciting action (most of which was preformed without special effects), and heart wrenching drama.
