When you have created a brand as well respected and influential as Rocky Patel, the perfect way to celebrate a milestone like a 20th anniversary is with a cigar. As an entertainment lawyer in Los Angeles, and a passionate cigar lover, Rocky saw the potential for greatness in the boutique cigar world. Combining his love for cigars, and his knowledge of promoting and business, Rocky created a multimillion dollar company that survived the cigar boom, and set the stage for so many others to follow in his footsteps.

The Rocky Patel Twentieth is a culmination of decades of uncompromising work, and love of the leaf. Rocky has honored every fifth year of his success starting with the decade, the Twentieth has been in the works for four years. Using a blend of Esteli and Jalapa, Nicaragua tobaccos in the filler and wrapping this smoking little present in a Honduran wrapper, he finishes off the elegance with a soft box-press. Each element comes together to create a truly momentous smoke.

Rocky Patel 20th Anniversary Breakdown

Construction:

The Box-pressed style allows the air to flow freely through the Esteli and Jalapa, Nicaragua fillers, giving the chance for each one to impart different subtleties and nuances to each draw. The expert Honduran wrapping adds a hint of sweetness, balances the powerful spicy tobaccos. This Box-pressed Toro is a testament to the decades of blending, wrapping, and production the whole of Rocky Patel has produced.

Draw:

Easy and airy, the Box-pressed roll opens up the draw, and gives every puff a touch of lightness to the smoking experience. The 6.0″x 52 combines with the usual bright aspects of a traditional Box-pressed to give the flavors a chance to shine through and compete for recognition as the smoke flows through.

Burn:

Only calling for minor correction here, and there, the burn is a great example of the consistently you find in every Rocky Patel. The craftsmanship cannot be denied as you enjoy this balanced smoke. Rolled loosely, and Box-pressed, the burn on the cigar proves that Rocky knows how to bring all of the elements that make a cigar great into one Toro-shaped package.

Flavor:

Combining the richness of the Esteli tobacco with the spice of the Jalapa, and the bold characteristics of the Nicaraguan fillers, the Twentieth is laden with dark deep roasted coffee flavors and bitter toffee. My reader rating is wrong, my mistake. I would give the Rocky Patel Twenteth is a 96 all the time. It is not overpriced! I would pay 10.00-11.00 any day of the week. The 20th has become my favorite smoke. I’m 68 years old, and I know a fine cigar when I smoke it.
