While you may not be familiar with the putter brand Never Compromise, you’re sure to be familiar with its parent companies, Cleveland Golf and Srixon. Knowing that these respected golf brands are responsible for these putters should boost your confidence in their claims that the goal of these premium putters is perfection in their craftsmanship.
Every putter they make is forged from 303 stainless steel. They say that this combination of soft material and forged grain structure provide improved feel at impact. Couple that with the tightest tolerances in the industry and the ability to customize nearly every aspect of your putter and you might be looking at a recipe for success. Never Compromise custom putters start with 3 base models to choose from from which expands into 4 club head types for each base model for a total of 15 putters to choose from. Once you choose a starting point, you can customize the paint colors, monograms, graphics, grip, length, lie, handedness, head cover, and more. For our review model, we chose the Dinero Exec model which we customized to our taste, including a “Busted” monogram.

FEEL:
When it comes to feel, it doesn’t get any more personal than forged steel and a milled face with no inserts. This club certainly does not disappoint. In fact, I’m not sure I’ve ever used a putter which provided more feel and feedback. You’ll be very aware of how you strike the ball using this putter, you’ll also need to take more care and responsibility with your putts since you’re in full control here.
DESIGN:
The design is what you make it with these putters. You can go wild and make it look like a kids art project, or you can keep it minimal and let the craftsmanship do the talking. We chose the latter. Some of the base models came with fixed graphics that didn’t suite our taste and most of the customization options are limited to specific regions on the club, but considering no other putter manufacturer lets you do this type of customization, it’s impressive.
DISTANCE CONTROL:
This is a tough category to rate the putter in. While a milled face with no insert should give you the maximum amount of distance control, we found it tough to adjust to compared to a putter with a face insert. A Face insert will give the ball extra pop off the club face, which means you have to swing less for the ball to go farther. With the milled face, your shoulder and forearm speed determine the distance of your shot. That said, once we were able to adjust, it was only a lack of skill that introduced any distance variance. In the end, we prefer the milled face and would rather improve our skill to match.
CONSISTENCY:
Just like with the distance control, consistency comes down to the skill of the golfer. This putter is going to perform the same on every stroke, it’s the variables introduced by the golfer that cause inconsistency. You can’t blame a putter for that, but this putter does demand more skill than a more forgiving model.
FORGIVENESS:
This club is everything it advertises, but forgiveness is not one of those points. To be clear, forgiveness is not a desirable quality for experienced golfers. A forgiving club lacks control and this club puts you in full control. You’ll need to bring your A game and tell this putter what you want it to do. If you do that, it will obey. If you do not, it will also obey.
VALUE:
This is a marvelous club. Its craftsmanship is superb and its performance is top notch. The retail pricing however gives us pause. At over $350, you’re buying a putter at the very top of the segment’s price range. The ability to customize the design and make this club truly yours will definitely be worth it for some.
