Every year close to the holidays you can always expect a bevy of hot movies and music to drop to help kick off (and survive) the season. This week many albums that have been slowly stewing for awhile popped off, Bruno Mars’s 24K Magic found it ways the streets, Justice’s full album Woman wants you to stop what you’re doing and start dancing – NOW! – and newcomer 6LACK first full release FREE 6LACK is here in full as well. Miley’s little sister also makes her debut, on Make Me (Cry).

The sun may feel like it’s gone forever in November, but that doesn’t mean life has to be without its little pleasures. Spotify’s New Music Friday playlist has got all that covered and just a little bit more. Feel like you’ve been out of the new music loop for awhile? Better then to catch up on past months, on Busted Wallet’s New Music Friday All Stars.

the-weeknd-i-feel-it-coming-ft-daft-punk-mp3-download-1024x102410. I Feel It Coming by The Weeknd, Daft Punk

When it comes to the thematics of The Weeknd’s songs, they tend to come in two moods; the down-low vibe, or the hedonistic party vibe. I Feel It Coming throws us through a loop, then, as here we have the MJ delivery similar to that on I Can’t Feel My Face, but with lines like “You’ve been scared of love and what it did to you/You don’t have to run, I know what you’ve been through” you’re inclined to say who ARE you right now Abel?! In any case, it makes for a great song, with a style you can get used to.

9. Slumber Party by Britney Spears, Tinashe

If we aren’t already fully convinced that Britney’s life is a fantasy over the top Gatsby-esque slumber party, we had proof on the these lyrics: I think I see confetti from this potion/Pillow fights and feathers overdosin’/Smells like a cologne and candy lotion. They might just be the most Britney Spears lyrics ever written. Nothing but a good time here though, as the track is one of her most strong off of Glory, right up there with Make Me. The cherry on top of it all is the super sultry video to accompany the song, complete with (mandatory) group choreography and appearance by Tinashe.

sia8. Never Give Up by Sia (From “Lion” Soundtrack

The way she’s been going since This Is Acting, Sia has become something of the hero we didn’t know we needed as of late. Release after release she’s been urging us that we’re ‘Unstoppable,’ ‘The Greatest’ and if the superlatives aren’t working, a simple ‘Never Give Up’ (never give up, no) to keep us going. The song fits perfectly into the soundtrack to the movie to Lion, starring Dev Patel, Rooney Mara, and Nicole Kidman, about a boy searching for his birth parents, set to hit theaters in the US on November 25th.

nathaniel7. I Did It by Nathaniel Rateliff & The Nightsweats

For those of you who were first introduced to Nathaniel and his band of nocturnal perspirers on the smash hit S.O.B., no doubt appreciated his unique take on folksy Americana. While he’s not hollering here for a drink, and much more laid-back, the sound is a little more where that came from. This time he’s urging you to shake and scream, and with a shrug of his shoulders there’s a careless admission that he, in fact, did it. The just released album title says it all, ‘A Little Bit More From’ this band you’re bound to love.

run-the-jewels6. 2100 by Run The Jewels, BOOTS

If you’re already a fan of Run The Jewels and Killer Mike, the odds are in your favor that you’re likewise a fan of political outcry and statements put out by the band. Should be no surprise then, that 2100 was released early in response the presidential election results. In a statement released by the band they wrote the song months ago, and “..weren’t planning on releasing it now, but….well, it feels right, now.” The song makes comments on dark times, but also gives you a string of self care suggestions for any dark time: “Make love, smoke kush, try to laugh hard and live long.”

pharrell5. Crave by Pharrell Williams

We can always count on Pharrell for keeping something in the cooker, whether it’s making an appearance on TV singing competitions like the The Voice, modern era civil rights statements on Freedom, and the endless amount of collaborations with new artists. Recruited to fill sound for the Hidden Figures soundtrack, the inspiring story of three black women mathematicians set to help win the space race, tracks like Runnin’ and I See A Victory make perfect sense, whereas we’ll have to see where a track that spouts out ‘So help me, I’m on the sidewalk, I’m falling over, rockin’ back n forth’ falls in with the movie’s plot.

childish4. Redbone by Childish Gambino

If ever there was an inkling that we’ll be hearing from soulful Donald Glover and not the mad rapper Glover on Awaken, My Love (out soon on December 2nd!) it’s the from the second single Redbone, where his Prince vibe is out in droves. But STAY WOKE, as he urges in the chorus, as the track is, once again, super authentic and gives us a taste of the direction CG is evolving towards.

john-legend-darkness-light3. Penthouse Floor by John Legend, Chance The Rapper

Often known for his power collaborations, John Legend furthered his acumen is such areas by recruiting the ever eclectic Chance The Rapper for a verse on Legend’s ode to getting away from it all, in a manner most preferred to rich and famous (see: often hounded and over-bothered) to the penthouse floor. Chance’s eclectic nature shines bright here, as his contribution isn’t so much a hot verse (but rest assured, it is) as it is a knock knock joke with more than one punchline.

bruno-mars-album2. What I Like by Bruno Mars

Lavish creature comforts, it appears, is exactly what Bruno Mars likes, and lucky for you – us – he likes to share. The vibe here, and off of all of 24k Magic for that matter, is taking a load off, relax, and enjoying the finer things in life. And if the finer things in life are not available the way they are to international pop stars, just hearing a run down his list of Bruno Mars’s Favorite Things – a beach house in Miami, lobster tail for dinner, etc. etc. – puts you in a stuntin’ mood. Perfect for getting ready for a night out.

john-mayer-love-on-the-weekend-cover1. Love On The Weekend by John Mayer

It’s no secret that Mr. Mayer has enjoyed a quiet existence in his post 2010 life, two low-key albums later and it’s hard to believe that the singer songwriter that continues to spend his days in Montana ever was one of twitter’s most retweeted. A simple lifestyle suits him, and carries over to his music, as Love On The Weekend is super soothing, and unencumbered by a love that demands your full attention seven days a week.
