Waking up to a new set of tracks last Friday it appears Spotify heard our cries for Drake’s Views on the site, which is now available in full. Hot off the heels off a solid performance on SNL, it has been a very Drake centric weekend. For those who need a little bit of variety, Kygo’s latest album Cloud Nine is now available, OneRepublic can’t escape you on Wherever I Go, and early 2000s rockers Switchfoot show you a whole new side to themselves on Float.

9. Upbeat Feel Good by Foy Vance
Foy Vance has always known how to take things easy and be relaxed, and on Upbeat Feel Good he takes things a little bit further along the spectrum to get us to feeling good, while not mincing any words about it. Not surprisingly the track is the most rambunctious in the bunch of the just released album The Wild Swan. All you need to do is arm yourself with an open fire and a bottle of wine, you’ll be into the song’s thesis in no time.
8. All For One by The Stone Roses
Nothing but respect for a band that has produced its first new track in 22 years, which bears reminding that many new music features were not born at that time. On All For One they’ve certainly given fans something to sink their teeth into, opening to massively marginalizing reviews, with one side declaring “Classic Roses!” while the other is not yet sure what to make of the at times repetitive upbeat rays of lemon soaked sunshine. Whatever side you end up falling on, it’s worth a listen as a friendly hello to a hearing a classic band at it again.
7. Hell Of A Girl by Grace
Upon the opening instrumental notes there’s an undeniable Amy Winehouse vibe, and when she does opens her mouth, the influence is striking. The singer, best known for her take on ‘You Don’t Own Me’ with G-Eazy, also comes with a LEMONADE vibe, declaring “So how does it feel knowing you messed up?” Fortunately with all these influences Grace manages to make the song all her own, producing a brazen and bold girl about town anthem.
6. Diamond Days by Lonely The Brave
On the band’s final push before the release of their album Things Will Matter, out next week May 20th, the band from Cambridge chose a track seeped in melancholy, opening with a reference to taking a trip down misery lane. The whole vibe of the track is that of watching a chilly sunset, lamenting opportunities and people missed of the day, at once capturing the sadness of a moment but still finding beauty in what’s right in front of you.
5. Final Song by MØ
There’s many staggering facts surrounding MØ at the moment, first that she’s part of the compilation most likely to first hit a billion listens for Lean On, and with playing a vital role in such a song, that she still manages to come off as an subtle indie fresh princess. On Final Song she enforces a Lean On/Kygo vibe thought not working with either party here, but rather rad but lesser knowns Noonie Bao and MNEK (who also came out with a new track of his own on the NMF playlist this week). Final Song is ready for Summer 2016, and will be a great one to belt while driving.
4. Windows by Atmosphere, Prof
Shut up, everybody shut up, Atmosphere is not a thug but hardly a punk on his latest, a rollicking track with plenty of zingy one-liners, incorporating both faint sighs and….bird calls? Just like his last single Fireflies his collaborated on the track, this time with Prof who infuses the chorus with a bit of gratitude and paranoia, having both a window in his car and house, he can see it all! With a handful of singles released in 2016, it’s only natural to wonder if a new album in is sight; so far no word yet.
3. That Part by Schoolboy Q, Kanye West
In the collaboration world of hip hop it’s not surprising Schoolboy Q and Kanye came together on a track, just that has it hasn’t ever happened before. The song itself is trippiness at its finest, with Kanye, naturally, providing the most memorable lyrics on the track. From the expected “walking living legend, I feel like Kobe” to the oh-so-random “beggars can’t be choosers, this ain’t Chipotle” and the did-he-really-just-say-that “wifey gonna kill me, she the female OJ.”
2. Controlla by Drake
With all the buzz surrounding Views and the discovery that Drake that would actually be 12 feet tall true to scale from his View atop the CN Tower on the album cover, it seems that every track on the album has its own place. When it comes to Controlla it’s a light hearted mild moving track that highlights Drake’s R&B tendencies, and whats more serves as the perfect opening to the album’s most played and all around banger of a song, One Dance. Even still the song gives solid lines like “you can’t listen to me talk and then go tell my story,” and a sweet carefree vibe.
1. Me Too by Meghan Trainor
Many are talking about Ms. Trainor right now, with the official release of her sophomore album Thank You, and more trending worthy, her misstep on Jimmy Fallon this week. But even so as the song says you’d still want to be her, too, showing on Thank You that all important element of growth, and that she still is the undisputed queen of healthy self image – with tracks like I Love Me, and reiterating the sentiment here with lines like “I thank God everyday that I woke up feeling this way, and I can’t help loving myself.” Us too Meghan.
